Kaduna, Nigeria, May 26, 2026(Series News Online)— The Arridah Relief Foundation has provided food assistance to more than 250 vulnerable persons and people living with disabilities across several communities in Kaduna State as part of activities marking the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The intervention, conducted amid rising food costs and economic strain nationwide, was led by the foundation’s National President, Ambassador Mamman Salima Sani.
She said the distribution forms part of the organisation’s yearly humanitarian programme aimed at supporting struggling families during festive seasons.
“This gesture is part of the organisation’s annual humanitarian outreach designed to bring smiles to struggling families during festive periods,” Ambassador Salima Sani said.
She explained that many indigent households can no longer afford staple food items due to the current economic climate, making external support critical.
“Many vulnerable households are currently struggling to afford basic food items due to the prevailing economic situation. This makes it imperative for well-meaning individuals and organisations to extend assistance to those in need,” she said.
According to her, the food packages were specifically packaged for persons with disabilities and other underprivileged families to help them mark the Sallah festivities with dignity.
“The food packages were specifically targeted at persons with disabilities and other less privileged families to enable them to observe the Sallah season with dignity, joy, and a sense of belonging,” she stated.
The National President disclosed that residents of Maraban Jos also benefited from the outreach as part of ongoing efforts to reduce hardship in vulnerable communities.
“Similar assistance was provided to some residents of Maraban Jos as part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to ease the burden of hardship on vulnerable communities,” she said.
Ambassador Salima Sani noted that the foundation has consistently supported widows, orphans, and persons with disabilities through various humanitarian programmes over the years.
“The Arridah Relief Foundation has, for many years, remained committed to supporting the poor, widows, orphans, and people living with disabilities through various humanitarian interventions,” she said.
“The organisation remains dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable citizens across Northern Nigeria,” Salafi said.
He added that the foundation’s charity and community support initiatives have improved the lives of hundreds of beneficiaries.
“The foundation has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of people through its charity initiatives and community support programmes,” he said.
Salafi called on Nigerians to pray for national peace and stability, stressing the need for solidarity and compassion.
“I urge Nigerians to continue praying for peace, unity, and stability in the country, stressing that collective support and compassion are needed now more than ever,” he said.
On behalf of the Joint Association of Physically Challenged Persons, Comrade Nasiru Mohammed Adamu, who leads persons living with spinal cord challenges in Kaduna State, thanked the foundation for its support during the festive period.
He described the intervention as timely given the economic challenges confronting many households.
“We express gratitude to the foundation for remembering us during the festive season,” Comrade Adamu said.
“The intervention is timely, particularly given the current economic difficulties facing many families,” he added.
He further acknowledged the foundation’s consistent support to vulnerable groups during major celebrations.
“The organisation has consistently supported vulnerable persons over the years during key celebrations such as Sallah,” he said.
