Birnin Kebbi, April 12, 2026(Series News Online)-The Kebbi State Office of the Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative, WRAPA Nigeria, on Saturday distributed sanitary pads, detergents, and toilet soaps to 50 female students of Madarasatul Darul Qur’an, Rafin Atiku, Birnin Kebbi, as part of efforts to promote hygiene and dignity among young girls.
The outreach, held on April 11, 2026, was designed to improve hygiene standards and enhance comfort for the students, particularly during periods of heightened personal hygiene needs.
“By providing these essential items, WRAPA aims to support girls in maintaining their health and dignity while continuing their studies without unnecessary discomfort,” the organisation said.
According to WRAPA, the initiative was guided by three key objectives: promoting personal hygiene to reduce the risk of infections, supporting consistent learning by minimizing hygiene-related interruptions, and encouraging dignity and confidence among female students.
Leading the outreach was Comrade Nasiru Idris, WRAPA Kebbi State Coordinator and Secretary of the Technical Working Group on Gender-Based Violence in the state. He told the students that WRAPA is “dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights and dignity of women, girls, men, and boys, with particular attention to marginalized groups — especially women.”
He added that the organisation was established in 1999 by Hon. Justice Fati Lami Abubakar, former First Lady of Nigeria, to promote and protect the human rights of women through legal aid, education, and advocacy. WRAPA is administratively led by Secretary-General Hajiya Saudatu Mahdi, he noted.
“We are here not only to present gifts to you but also to sensitize you about WRAPA’s activities and to share our contacts so that you can reach out whenever necessary,” Comrade Idris said.
Also at the event were WRAPA Kebbi Project Manager and Accountant, Hajiya Hassana Ibrahim, and team members Murjanatu Faruk, Hussaini Ibrahim, and Umar Yau Danko. During the session, one parcel was opened to show its contents, and the team urged beneficiaries to make “full and responsible use of the items provided.”
Hajiya Hassana Ibrahim expressed optimism that the initiative would encourage other non-governmental organisations and philanthropists to support similar causes. “This will expand access to hygiene resources for vulnerable female students across the state,” she said.
Responding on behalf of the school, Head of Madarasatul Darul Qur’an, Mallam Ishaq Mungadi, thanked WRAPA for the gesture. He cited a longstanding relationship between the school and the organisation dating back to the Islamic Family Law Project.
“WRAPA’s continued engagement demonstrates its commitment to maintaining cordial partnerships and supporting institutions that nurture young learners,” Mallam Mungadi said. He described the donation as “timely and impactful” and expressed hope for sustained collaboration.
The event ended with the formal presentation of items to the students and group photographs. A closing prayer was offered by one of the students.
WRAPA said the outreach underscores its ongoing dedication to empowering girls and promoting healthy learning environments in Kebbi State.
