The Kebbi State Police Command has launched a series of activities to commemorate the National Police Day 2026, themed "Community Partnership: Building Trust". The celebrations, which will run from March 30 to April 7, 2026, are aimed at strengthening collaboration with the public and enhancing transparency.
Addressing a press briefing at his office at the Police Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, on Friday, Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammad Hadejia, said, "This theme reflects our firm commitment to strengthening collaboration with the public, enhancing transparency, and building mutual trust as the foundation for effective policing."
The police commissioner announced a range of activities, including an environmental sanitation exercise, a medical outreach programme, a walkathon, and public sensitization campaigns on electoral violence, peaceful coexistence, and safe driving practices. "The Command will conduct public sensitization campaigns focusing on the dangers of electoral violence, peaceful coexistence, and safe driving practices across strategic locations in the State," he said.
The police commissioner also announced that the command would honour the memory and sacrifice of fallen officers by presenting cheques to their families. "On Thursday, 2nd April 2026, we shall honor the memory and sacrifice of our fallen officers through the presentation of cheques to their families, in line with the nationwide programme," he said.
The celebrations will culminate with a ceremonial parade and tactical displays at the Eagle Square on April 7, 2026. The Kebbi State Police Command assured the public of its commitment to people-centered policing and protection of lives and property. "The Kebbi State Police Command remains committed to people-centered policing and assures the public of our unwavering dedication to the protection of lives and property," the commissioner said.
The police command called on residents to support the police with timely and credible information, saying, "We call on all residents to continue to support the Police with timely and credible information, as security is a collective responsibility."
