The Duguri Old Boys Association (DOBA) has distributed food items and cash assistance to over 70 widows, orphans, and vulnerable beneficiaries as part of its humanitarian outreach during the Ramadan fasting period.
"This gesture reflects our commitment to standing by our members and their families, especially those experiencing hardship," said Hon. Ahmad Isah Tahir, Chairman of the Special Duties and Welfare Committee. "We believe our responsibility towards our members does not end with graduation, but continues through a strong network of care and support."
The distribution is part of DOBA's efforts to support its members and their families. "This initiative demonstrates the strength of unity among members and highlights the importance of collective responsibility in supporting those in need," said Ahmad Mohammed Saka, Chairman of DOBA. "Acts of compassion such as these provide immediate relief while reinforcing the core values upon which the association was founded."
The association plans to carry out another round of assistance before the end of Ramadan to reach additional needy members. "Ramadan offers an opportunity for reflection, generosity, and community service," Saka said. "We urge members and stakeholders to continue supporting initiatives that uplift vulnerable individuals."
Beneficiaries, including Mukhtar Hassan and Hajara Bala Duguri, expressed appreciation for the support. "The assistance came at a critical time when many families are struggling with rising living costs," they said. "The support brings comfort and reassurance to widows and orphans of deceased members, reminding them they remain remembered and valued by the DOBA family."
The association has received support from Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, and other philanthropists. DOBA plans to expand its humanitarian efforts in the future.
