A Bauchi-based NGO, Wunti Al-Khair Foundation, has equipped over 130 Islamic Aid Group members with skills on crowd control, traffic management, and emergency response ahead of the Sallah celebrations in Bauchi State. The two-day training, held at the Bauchi Central Mosque, aimed to ensure orderliness and smooth traffic flow at Eid prayer grounds.
"We worked with relevant stakeholders to develop topics that address present security concerns and day-to-day challenges. This will enable volunteers to respond appropriately to any situation that may arise during Eid gatherings," said Isyaka Ismail Wunti, one of the conveners.
The participants, drawn from 20 local government areas, were selected from various Islamic aid organisations in collaboration with Jama'atu Nasril Islam (JNI). They are expected to apply the knowledge gained in their respective organisations to ensure effective coordination during Eid celebrations.
"The training is an annual initiative designed to strengthen the capacity of Islamic aid groups responsible for coordinating activities during Eid-el-Fitr celebrations," Wunti explained.
The event included the distribution of bags of rice and clothing materials to participants, with each volunteer receiving a bag of rice and other gifts to support them during the Eid celebration.
