Kebbi 3rd Ramadan Lecture Brings Joy: 1,000 Women, Orphans Receive Palliatives from Governor's Wife

The wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris, has handed out Ramadan palliatives to 1,000 women and orphans in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, underscoring the administration's commitment to empowering women.

The distribution was part of the 3rd Ramadan lecture for women, held at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, which attracted Islamic scholars and prominent personalities from across the state and beyond.

In her welcome address, Hajiya Halima Hassan Kamba, Commissioner for Women Affairs, expressed her appreciation for the governor's wife's tireless efforts in supporting women in the state. "Her foundation, NANAS, has been a beacon of hope for women in the state," she said.

The Governor's wife, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris, thanked Almighty Allah for enabling her to organize the lecture and distribution of palliatives. "What you are witnessing today is part of our agenda to assist and empower women across the state, enabling them to become self-reliant," she said.

The lecture featured four speakers, who discussed various topics related to women's roles in society. Malama Hauwau Abubakar Zaki, the first speaker, emphasized the importance of treating multiple wives equally and fearing Allah, citing the Quranic verse, "And if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly, then only one, or (slaves) that your right hands possess, that is more suitable for you to prevent you from doing injustice" (Surah An-Nisa, 4:3). She also quoted the Hadith, "Whoever has two wives and is not just between them, he will be raised on the Day of Resurrection with half of his body leaning" (Sunan Abu Dawud).

Malam Nafiu Kabir, the second speaker, highlighted the significance of women's roles in shaping society, quoting the Hadith, "The world is a provision, and the best provision is a pious woman" (Sahih Muslim). He emphasized the importance of women's education and their role in raising good children.

Sheikh Hussaini Abubakar Giro, the third speaker, stressed the importance of harmony and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, citing the Quranic verse, "O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another" (Surah Al-Hujurat, 49:13). He also quoted the Hadith, "The believers are like a single body; if one part of it hurts, the whole body suffers" (Sahih Bukhari).

Malama Zainab Jafar Adam, the fourth speaker, spoke on the importance of honesty and trust, citing the Quranic verse, "Verily, Allah commands you to make over the trust to those who are worthy" (Surah An-Nisa, 4:58). She emphasized the need for individuals to be truthful and trustworthy in their dealings.

Other dignitaries who spoke at the event through virtual means included Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, wife of the Minister for Budget and National Planning, Dr. Fatima Dikko Umar Radda, wife of Katsina State Governor, and Hajiya Amina Umar Namadi, wife of Jigawa State Governor, who all commended the Kebbi governor's wife for her efforts.

The event was attended by prominent personalities, including district heads, council chairmen, and directors, among others.
