Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has ordered a thorough investigation into a fire outbreak at Nurul Haqq Quranic and Arabic School in Birnin Kebbi. The incident, which occurred on Saturday evening, damaged several hostels and classrooms.
Governor Idris, who personally supervised emergency response efforts, directed the constitution of a high-powered committee to investigate the cause of the fire. He arrived at the scene after noticing thick smoke and ordered the evacuation of over 140 students, ensuring their safety despite observing his Ramadan fast.
"The Governor's prompt intervention ensured that rescue operations commenced without delay," said Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity. All students were safely evacuated and relocated to the school's main branch.
Governor Idris commended the Kebbi State Fire Service for their response and professionalism, and reassured parents and guardians that the students are safe and stable. He emphasized his administration's commitment to student safety and security, and vowed to prevent similar incidents in the future.
