Governor Bala Mohammed has highlighted the state's remarkable journey since its creation in 1976, crediting the vision and sacrifices of the founding fathers for its success. "We honour their legacy and pray that Almighty God grants eternal rest to those who have returned to our Creator," he said during a statewide broadcast to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Bauchi State.
The Governor described the Golden Jubilee as a defining moment in the state's history. "Today, I speak to you with a heart filled with gratitude, pride, and responsibility as we mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of our dear state. This milestone calls for reflection on our journey, appreciation of our sacrifices, and renewed commitment to our collective future," he stated.
Governor Mohammed recalled the late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed's announcement of Bauchi State's creation on February 3, 1976, alongside six other states. He noted that despite numerous challenges, the state has recorded steady progress, with notable achievements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and security.
The Governor acknowledged the contributions of past leaders, including Colonel Muhammad Bello Kaliel, the first military governor, and Alhaji Abubakar Tatari Ali, the first democratically elected governor. "We remain grateful to all of them, living and deceased, and pray that Almighty God rewards their service," he said.
Governor Mohammed emphasized that Bauchi State is richly endowed with vast agricultural potential, water resources, and livestock, which remain underutilized. He urged citizens to work harder to unlock the state's economic future.
