UPDATE: KEBBI WATER SUPPLY TO BE RESTORED BY TUESDAY, KAOJE ASSURES

The Kebbi State Government is poised to restore water supply to affected communities by Tuesday, following ongoing repairs on a burst pipeline, Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Bello Abdullahi -Kaoje, has assured.

Abdullahi -Kaoje made the pledge while briefing journalists on Saturday at the Dukku Waterworks, where he inspected the progress of repair works, accompanied by Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Isah Arzika Gwandu, and General Manager, Kebbi State Water Board, Engr. Zayyanu Shehu.

"The repair works are progressing smoothly, and engineers have inspected and tested both the high-lift and low-lift pumps, which are functional," Abdullahi-Kaoje said.

"The remaining challenge is that some of the facilities are still wet. Once they are properly dried, pumping will commence, and water supply will return to normal by Tuesday."

The Commissioner appealed to the public to remain patient, noting that other sections of the waterworks were operational and several outstations were currently supplying water to the metropolis.

"We urge residents to bear with us a little longer. We are committed to resolving the issue promptly and ensuring uninterrupted water supply across the state," he said.

Governor Nasir Idris had earlier constituted a task force committee, chaired by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, to oversee the restoration efforts.
