Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State -Nigeria, January 31, 2026(Series News Online)
The administration of Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has set up a special task force to probe the stalled construction of the Governor's Lodge and Hotel in Kaduna. The committee, sanctioned by the governor, will examine the project's current status, check if the contractor made amends with the state government, and pinpoint why the project was abandoned.
Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, stated that the committee will present its findings within a fortnight. "The committee's mandate includes determining the project's legal standing and checking if the contractor reconciled with the state government as advised by the former Solicitor-General after the contract was revoked," Tafida explained.
Led by Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, the committee comprises representatives from various government agencies. Governor Idris emphasized his administration's dedication to transparency in public projects, saying, "Abandoned government assets must be reviewed and addressed for the benefit of Kebbi State's people."
The committee will investigate the contract revocation circumstances and identify the original and revised contract amounts. This move demonstrates the government's commitment to accountability in public projects.
