The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has donated ten brand-new Toyota Hilux vehicles to enhance security operations along the ongoing Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway project.
The vehicles were formally presented to the Minister of State for Works, Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo, during a brief ceremony at Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
"This gesture reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted execution of this legacy infrastructure project," Governor Idris said. "No meaningful development can thrive without security, and we are taking proactive measures to protect workers, equipment, and communities along the project route."
The Governor emphasized that the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway will significantly boost trade, ease transportation, and expand farming and commercial activities in Kebbi State.
In response, Minister of State for Works, Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo, commended Governor Idris for the donation, saying it demonstrates his commitment to progress and genuine partnership with the Federal Government.
"The donation will greatly enhance security along the project corridor," Goronyo said. "We appreciate Governor Idris' support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope infrastructure agenda, which is delivering transformative projects across the state."
Goronyo disclosed that construction work on the highway has advanced significantly, with about 64 kilometres already cleared, over 30 kilometres filled, and four kilometres of concrete double-lane pavement completed.
The Minister also listed upcoming installations along the highway, including solar streetlights, CCTV cameras, police stations, boreholes, schools, and medical centres, aimed at stimulating socio-economic development.
The Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway is designed to open up economic corridors, ease travel, reduce insecurity, and connect farmlands, towns, and rural communities.
