Bauchi, Bauchi State, Nigeria - December 1, 2025(Series News Online)
The Bauchi state government has raised an alarm over a criminal syndicate defrauding unsuspecting job seekers by promising them non-existent employment opportunities in the state civil service.
The state Head of Service, Barr. Muhammad Sani Umar, issued a warning in a press statement, condemning the actions of "unscrupulous elements" extorting money from desperate applicants.
"Unscrupulous elements are taking advantage of desperate job seekers, promising them employment opportunities in the state civil service," Barr. Sani said. "We want to assure the public that the government has put in place measures to ensure transparency and fairness in its recruitment process."
Barr. Sani reiterated that the government had launched an official online recruitment portal to ensure transparency, merit, and equal opportunity in its hiring process.
"We want to remind the public that all applicants who submitted their details through the portal will be contacted through authorised channels as the recruitment process reaches its concluding stage," he said.
The statement, signed by Mohammed Bello Ahmed, reminded the public that the online application process was introduced to guarantee fair access to employment opportunities in the state service.
"We caution job seekers to disregard any unofficial messages, payment requests, or lobbying attempts claiming to influence recruitment outcomes, as such schemes are fraudulent and not endorsed by the government," the statement read.
The Head of Service appealed to anyone with credible information about the activities of the syndicate to report to the nearest security agency for timely action.
"We reaffirm the government's commitment to a transparent recruitment process free from corruption and manipulation," Barr. Sani said.
