In a daring rescue operation, the Kebbi State Police Command has freed six kidnapping victims from the clutches of armed bandits in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area. The incident occurred on November 2, 2025, when a group of about 12 heavily armed bandits raided Ukuhu, Tungar Wazga, and Unguwar Chiroma villages, abducting 10 individuals.
Acting on intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer, Danko, swiftly assembled a team of police operatives and local vigilantes, who gave chase to the kidnappers. The security team tracked the bandits to Marina village, bordering Zamfara State, where a fierce gun battle ensued. The bandits, caught off guard, abandoned some of their victims and fled into the nearby forest, likely with gunshot wounds.
Six of the abducted victims were rescued unharmed and have been reunited with their families after receiving medical attention. The rescued individuals are Abubakar B. Abubakar, 25; Nasiru Magawata, 18; Abdul Magawata, 15; Buhari Ukuhu, 17; Kamalu Magawata, 12; and Naziru Magawata, 11, all residents of the affected villages.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. S, commended the successful operation, praising the DPO Danko and his team for their prompt response, professionalism, and bravery. "The Command remains steadfast in its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property of the good people of Kebbi State," CP Sani emphasized.
The police chief urged the public to continue supporting the police with timely and accurate information to aid in crime prevention and prompt response to security threats. The command is intensifying search and rescue operations to secure the release of the remaining four kidnapped victims and apprehend the fleeing perpetrators.
