The Federal Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, has expressed gratitude to the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for greenlighting a whopping ₦449,193,400.08 for the College of Health Sciences at Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA). This significant funding is poised to pave the way for the accreditation of crucial Health Sciences programs within the institution.
Dr. Sununu highlighted the Governor's prompt response to the accreditation plea, revealing that he had personally lobbied for support on behalf of concerned parties. "In our three meetings with the Governor, he demonstrated remarkable willingness to act swiftly, instructing the university authorities to submit their proposal, which he promptly approved," he disclosed.
According to the Minister, the Governor's timely intervention will have a dual impact, safeguarding the futures of students pursuing health sciences while also addressing the state's pressing need for skilled medical professionals. "This approval not only secures the future of our students but also enhances the state's capacity to deliver quality healthcare services," Dr. Sununu noted.
Dr. Sununu called on philanthropists, lawmakers, and other stakeholders to rally behind the Governor's initiative to boost medical education in Kebbi State. He expressed profound appreciation for the Governor's support, emphasizing that investing in medical training, though capital-intensive, yields substantial long-term benefits for society.
