"Kebbi Gov. Nasir Joins Nation's Leaders to Commemorate World Teachers' Day"

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, on Sunday joined other dignitaries across the country at the 2025 World Teachers' Day celebration held at the Eagle Square, Abuja. The event, organized by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), was attended by top government officials, education stakeholders, and representatives from across the federation.

In his address, the National President of the NUT, Comrade Audu Titus Amba, commended teachers nationwide for their dedication and vital contributions to human and national development. "October 5 is a milestone in the history of the teaching profession, being the date set aside globally by UNESCO since 1994, to recognize and celebrate the role of teachers in the development of humanity and society," he said.

Comrade Amba lauded the Federal Government for sustaining its commitment to the observance of the annual event and for promoting initiatives that acknowledged excellence among educators. He particularly appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for upholding the President's Teachers and Schools Excellence Award, established in 2007 to reward deserving teachers, administrators, and schools for their outstanding contributions to quality education delivery.

Governor Idris, a former Chairman of NUT in Kebbi State and one-time National President of the prestigious union, was among the distinguished guests at the event. His presence was especially significant as someone who has devoted his public service career to advancing teachers' welfare, promoting quality education, and reforming the education sector both in Kebbi State and beyond.

The Governor has always reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting teachers and strengthening the education sector at all levels. The celebration was attended by high-profile personalities from Kebbi State, who accompanied the Governor to the event.

"We appreciate the Federal Government's efforts in promoting initiatives that acknowledged excellence among educators," Comrade Amba said, while also advocating for action on key issues affecting Unity School teachers, including promotions, payment of arrears, and employment of verified PTA teachers.

The NUT President thanked the President, Governors, and stakeholders for their support and praised teachers nationwide for their dedication and vital role in shaping the nation's future.
