The Kogi State Government, in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria, has launched a groundbreaking cash transfer initiative aimed at uplifting the lives of 8,600 vulnerable households across the state. The program's flag-off ceremony took place at the Government House in Lokoja, with dignitaries, esteemed guests, and members of the press in attendance.
Hajia Aishat Oyiza Omade, State Coordinator of Kogi State Social Investment Program Agency (KOSSIPA), expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for their benevolent gesture towards the less privileged in the state. "Please safeguard your ATM cards and PINs, as each card contains ₦75,000," she cautioned beneficiaries, urging them to keep their cards confidential.
The Coordinator lauded Governor Ododo's commitment to human development and infrastructure growth in the state. Mr. Olorunmosunle Moses Kehinde, Manager of the Kogi State Cash Transfer Unit, reaffirmed the team's dedication to eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in Kogi State.
Beneficiaries of the program have expressed heartfelt appreciation and outlined plans to utilize the funds wisely. Malama Saretu Umoru, a beneficiary, intends to invest in her akamu business and upgrade her grinding engine to boost production. Malam Suleiman Yusuf Rufai, another beneficiary, thanked Governor Ododo for the initiative, stating that he will invest the funds in expanding his business.
The cash transfer program represents a significant milestone in the quest to create a poverty-free Kogi State. Through this collaborative effort, the Kogi State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria aim to transform the lives of the less privileged and foster a brighter future for the state.
