The Kebbi State Directorate of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has condemned hate speech and urged citizens to engage in constructive dialogue over a viral video showing patients in a flooded hospital ward. The Directorate expressed concern over the incident and emphasized the need for authorities to address the matter.
In a press release, the NOA Director, Muhammed Nasir Karofi, called on citizens to channel their concerns and frustrations through dialogue that promotes solutions rather than disaffection. "While citizens have the right—and indeed the responsibility—to hold government accountable, such engagement must be carried out with respect, civility, and a spirit of patriotism," Karofi stated.
The NOA Director noted that governance is a continuous and evolving process, and constructive criticism helps leaders respond more effectively to citizens' needs. "Mockery, insults, and hate speech only serve to divide society and weaken our collective ability to solve problems," he added.
Karofi urged community leaders, religious figures, and parents to guide their members, followers, and children on the importance of responsible and patriotic civic engagement. The NOA remains committed to sensitizing the public on the values of respect, unity, and patriotism.
The Agency also encouraged government institutions to respond swiftly to citizens' genuine concerns. "Together, we can build a Kebbi State where accountability is matched with civility, and where dialogue leads to positive change for all," Karofi concluded.
