A New Chapter in Kogi Politics: Onoja, Achuba's Historic Reconciliation

In a significant development, former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja, has paid a reconciliatory visit to his predecessor, Elder Simon Achuba, in a move seen as a welcome development for the state's progress. The visit, which took place at Achuba's Abuja home, has been described as a humble display of submission to the African culture of respect for elders.

According to Mr. Abdulkarim Abdulmalik, former Director-General of the Kogi State Bureau of Information and Grassroots Sensitisation, Onoja's gesture is a demonstration of his commitment to promoting a healthy political environment in the state. "This is a humble display from a younger brother who believed he might have irked his elder deliberately or otherwise, but was poised to bell the cat," Abdulmalik said.

During the visit, Onoja expressed his high regard and respect for Achuba, describing him as his "elder brother" and a respected political strategist with a lot of love for the growth and development of the state. "The visit is a demonstration of my high regards and respect for him," Onoja said. "We have only rubbed minds as brothers, ironed out perceived or misconceived differences and tried to discuss what we can contribute to the development of our state as stakeholders."

Achuba, who was impeached as Deputy Governor, received Onoja warmly, and the two politicians, who hail from the same senatorial district, discussed ways to promote unity, peace, and development in the state. Onoja reiterated his commitment to the greater good of the state and its people, saying he would devote his time, energy, and resources to work with people of like minds to advance the cause of unity, peace, and development of the state.

The reconciliation of the two politicians is seen as a challenge to others to eschew political hostility and work together for the growth and progress of the state and Nigeria at large. As Onoja noted, "We are committed to working together to promote the development of our state and ensure the well-being of its people."
