VP Shettima, Kebbi Gov Pay Last Respects as Emir of Zuru is Laid to Rest

The community of Zuru in Kebbi State bid a final farewell to their beloved Emir, Rtd. Major-General Muhammadu Sani Sami, Gomo the Second, who passed away last Saturday at the age of 81 in a London hospital. The late monarch was laid to rest at his private residence in Zuru on Friday, with thousands of mourners in attendance.

The funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Zuru Central Mosque, Sheikh Suleiman Muhammad, immediately after the Friday prayers. The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, led other traditional rulers to the funeral, including the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, and representatives of other emirates.

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, who led the Federal Government delegation to the burial, condoled with the family of the late Emir. "We pray that ALLAH grants mercy to the late Emir and admits him into the Garden of Bliss, Aljannah Firdausi, in the Hereafter," he said.

The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, also paid tribute to the family of the late Emir. "We are saddened by the loss of our beloved monarch, and we pray that ALLAH forgives him his sins and grants him eternal rest," he said.

The late Emir was given a military honour at his burial, attended by thousands of mourners who came to pay their last respects. The Emir's death has been mourned by people from all walks of life, who described him as a symbol of unity and stability in the community.

The burial ceremony was a testament to the late Emir's impact on his people, with traditional rulers, government officials, and community leaders attending the funeral to pay their respects. May ALLAH grant the late Emir's soul eternal rest.
