Kebbi State marked its 34th anniversary on August 27, 2025, with a renewed sense of purpose and optimism. The state, under the leadership of Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has undergone significant transformation, positioning itself as a model of modern governance in Nigeria.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, Ibrahim Abubakar Jombali, the anniversary celebration is a testament to the governor's commitment to serving the people and building a better future for the state. "The state is not merely celebrating age; it is celebrating growth, leadership, and hope," Jombali said.
Under Governor Idris's leadership, Kebbi State has made significant strides in various sectors, including agriculture, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. The state has invested heavily in rice, wheat, and fisheries, and has implemented programs to empower farmers and boost agricultural productivity. "If Kebbi is Nigeria’s breadbasket, then under Nasir Idris, the basket is being refilled with purpose," Jombali said.
The state has also prioritized education, with initiatives aimed at improving access to quality education and promoting digital literacy. "Kebbi’s 34th anniversary is marked by classrooms alive with learning, teacher training programs revitalized, and tertiary institutions receiving strategic support," Jombali said.
In the healthcare sector, the state has constructed new primary health centers and revitalized existing ones, while also securing partnerships with federal and global health actors to improve healthcare delivery. "Maternal and child health programs are no longer statistics in files but living realities in hospitals across Kebbi," Jombali added.
The state has also made significant progress in infrastructure development, with new roads being constructed and power projects being implemented. "Roads that once were death traps are now being opened up, linking farmers to markets, students to schools, and communities to opportunities," Jombali said.
As Kebbi State celebrates its 34th anniversary, Jombali expressed optimism about the state's future, saying that the legacy being built under Governor Idris's leadership is one of people-centered governance. "The legacy being woven today under Governor Idris Nasir is that of a Kebbi ready to claim its rightful place in Nigeria’s federation—not just as a food hub, but as a model of people-centered governance," Jombali said.
