"Resettlement Efforts: Kebbi Govt Pays Compensation to Landowners"

The Kebbi State Government has taken a significant step towards resettling victims of last year's flooding in Kamfani village, Argungu Local Government Area.

The Executive Director, Kebbi State Emergency Relief Agency (SEMA), TPL Abubakar Abdullahi, disclosed that the government has paid compensation to owners of farmlands acquired for the resettlement project.

According to Abdullahi, the land has been allocated free to the flood victims to construct new houses on higher ground. "Since the time of the flooding last year, interim relief items comprising foodstuffs and building materials were provided to the victims on the approval of Governor Nasir Idris," he said.

The Chairman, Argungu Local Government, Hon. Aliyu Sani Gulma, thanked Governor Nasir Idris for his fatherly care to the inhabitants of Kamfani village. "The people of Argungu are grateful to our charismatic leader who approved the immediate disbursement of funds as compensation to owners of farmlands acquired for allocation to households to start life afresh," Gulma said.

The government's efforts aim to provide a lasting solution to the plight of the flood victims, enabling them to rebuild their lives in a safer environment.
