Digital Learning for All: 5,672 Students, 34 Teachers Benefit in 3 States"

Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, July 11, 2025 - The ProFuturo Foundation, in collaboration with American Tower and the Kukah Centre, has launched and distributed digital learning resources to 5,672 students and 34 teachers across three states in Nigeria. The launching ceremony took place at the premises of Atiku Bagudu Science Model Primary School in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

According to Dr. Emmanuel John Nkanta, Project Manager of ProFuturo and the Kukah Centre, the program has been implemented in partnership with the Kukah Centre across 123 primary schools, providing digital learning resources to over 76,000 children. "The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Mission are the collaborating entities implementing the project in the benefiting states, covering public and private schools respectively," Nkanta said.

The program has also delivered professional training in digital competencies and pedagogical support to over 1,200 teachers in 13 Nigerian states, including Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, and Taraba. This initiative aims to bridge the gap in access to digital infrastructure and internet connectivity in some schools, particularly in rural areas.

Following the collaboration agreement signed in March 2025 between ProFuturo and American Tower Corporation, digital equipment was successfully delivered to educational centers in Kano, Kebbi, and Taraba states in May 2025. Mr. Esrom Ajanya, Senior Program Manager with the Kukah Centre, said three primary schools in Kebbi had benefited from the gesture, including Atiku Bagudu Science Model Primary School, Gwandu Emirates Model Primary School, and St. Dominic Schools in Birnin Kebbi.

Prof. Suleiman Khalid-Jega, Executive Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Kebbi State, commended ProFuturo, American Tower Corporation, and the Kukah Centre for complementing the state government's efforts. "The state government is committed to supporting digital child education projects by improving access to quality education through digital tools and resources," he said.

Very Rev. Fr. Chukubueze Onyekwelu, Vicar Pastoral of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, congratulated the benefiting schools on the digital child education intervention. "This project will enhance the skills of teachers and students in the use of technology while providing digital educational content tailored to the needs of the students," he added.
