Abuja, June 16, 2025 – The concept of hope has been a recurring theme in Nigerian politics, particularly with President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. The slogan, which was popularized during the 2023 general election, has been met with skepticism by many Nigerians who are yet to feel the impact of the initiative.
According to President Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Agenda is designed to bring about a brighter future for Nigerians, despite the current economic challenges. However, many citizens are questioning the effectiveness of the initiative, given the rising cost of living and prices.
"After two years of Renewed Hope Presidency, there has been a significant change in the political and social life of Nigerians—cost of living and prices surge, but yet, we were still reminded and asked to be hopeful and resilient," Sani Bello Hamza writes.
The writer argues that while hope is essential for human survival, it must be accompanied by concrete actions and solutions to address the country's problems. "We cannot be blindly hopeful. The way we take a calculated risk in life is the same way we must equally be calculatedly hopeful."
