Birnin Kebbi, June 16, 2025 – A minor fire incident occurred in the newly constructed one-story A&E block at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Birnin Kebbi after 9 pm on Monday night. Eyewitnesses described the fire as minor, gutting an insignificant portion of the block.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire was suspected to have emanated from a changeover switch. However, it was quickly brought under control by the staff and people around the building. "The fire was minor and was quickly overcome by the staff and people around the building," a source said.

The hospital management rushed to the scene upon receiving the news. "After the arrival of the hospital management, all patients in the affected area were evacuated to another place pending the restoration of the electricity power supply to the affected place," an eyewitness said.
