"Kebbi Banditry Attack Kills 30, Councils Chairmen Seek More Security"

Birnin Kebbi, June 20, 2025 – A press release signed and made available to newsmen over the weekend in Birnin Kebbi by Murtala  Gotomo, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, reported on the Kebbi State Government's response to the recent banditry attack in Tadurga and Kyebu, Zuru Emirate.

The State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, conveyed the government's sympathy to the victims' families and announced a donation of N50 million, with each community receiving N25 million. "This is a modest effort to support the bereaved families during this challenging period," he said.

Senator Tafida also pledged to enhance security efforts to block entry points at Tadurga and Kyebu.

The Chairmen of Zuru and Danko Wasagu Local Governments, Hon. Muhammad Bala Isah Gajere and Hon. Hussaini Aliyu Bena, confirmed 16 fatalities in Tadurga and 14 in Kyebu and Yar-kuka in Waje District, with others injured. "We appeal for increased security personnel in the areas to prevent future attacks," they said.

The Village Heads of Tadurga and Kyebu praised the state government's efforts towards curbing insecurity and appealed for enhanced measures to block bandits' entry points.

The press release also reported on donations from prominent individuals, including Senator Musa Garba Maidoki, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and other dignitaries.
