Kebbi Police Rescue Abducted FUBK Student in Daring Operation

The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped student of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK), Augustine Madubiya, who was abducted on April 8, 2025, at Unguwar Jeji, Kalgo LGA of Kebbi State. The rescue operation was carried out by a combined team of policemen and vigilantes at Dakingari forest on April 10, 2025.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects abandoned their victim and fled upon sighting the security personnel. Madubiya, a 23-year-old student of the Economic Department, was found unhurt and is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility before being reunited with his family.

The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, commended the bravery and professionalism displayed by the Divisional Police Officer, Dakingari, and his team for rescuing the victim promptly. "The Kebbi state government has taken swift and proactive steps to ensure the safe release of the abductee," he said.

CP Bello M Sani also paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to the scene, following a critical stakeholders' meeting with the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Sen. Abubakar Umar, Tafidan Kabi, and the Vice Chancellor of FUBK, Professor Muhammad Umar Zayyanu. The meeting focused on improving the security architecture of the university's off-campus hostels.

The successful rescue operation demonstrates the effectiveness of Nigeria's security agencies in responding to emergencies and protecting citizens.
