Kebbi Govt Hails FG Over Subsidized Rice Supply

The Kebbi State Government has expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for providing 6,000 bags of subsidized rice to alleviate economic hardship. The rice, priced at N40,000 per 50kg bag, will be sold to residents, with 5,000 bags allocated to state civil servants and 1,000 bags reserved for federal civil servants.

Hon. Zayyanu Aliero, Commissioner for Special Duties, commended the Federal Government's gesture, saying, "The commendation became imperative in view of the fact that the gesture would go a long way in cushioning the scourge of present economic hardship."

To access the subsidized rice, federal and state workers must provide: 

- National Identity card number

- Organization's Identity card

- ATM Card with the subsidy amount

Each government worker is entitled to only one bag, and multiple buying is strictly prohibited. The government has captured the identities of beneficiaries to prevent abuse. Security agencies have been alerted to monitor and prosecute anyone attempting to sell the rice on the market.

"We appeal to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the item for the good of their families," Aliero said. This initiative is part of the Federal Government's broader effort to provide 30,000 metric tons of milled rice at a subsidized rate, aiming to mitigate food insecurity and stabilize prices.

The Kebbi State Government appreciates the Federal Government's continued efforts to address public concerns. "We are ever grateful to the Federal Government for its continued efforts to address the plights of the general public," Aliero emphasized.
