"AIG Gyogon Augustine Grimah Visits Sokoto Police Command, Emphasizes Professionalism"

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 10, Sokoto, AIG Gyogon Augustine Grimah psc, FCAI, has embarked on a familiarization tour to the Sokoto State Police Command. The visit, which took place on April 24, 2025, aimed to strengthen the command's efforts in addressing security challenges in the state.

Upon arrival, the AIG was warmly received by the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, CP Ahmed Musa psc, who delivered a welcoming address highlighting the structure, challenges, and strategic importance of the command. CP Musa noted that the Sokoto State Police Command was established in 1976 and currently comprises four area commands and thirty-one divisional headquarters.

The Commissioner emphasized the strategic location of the command, which shares borders with Zamfara, Kebbi, and the Niger Republic, thereby exposing it to various security threats, including banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, housebreaking, and other criminal activities. Despite these challenges, the command remains committed to continuous training and retraining of personnel.

In his address, AIG Gyogon Augustine Grimah psc, FCAI, commended the efforts of the command and advised on the efficient utilization of available resources to combat security threats effectively. He highlighted critical issues affecting the performance and integrity of the force, including upholding discipline, eliminating illegal detentions, promoting professionalism, and preventing human rights abuses.

The AIG also emphasized the importance of proper documentation, supervision, and regular visiting rounds, as well as correcting improper dressing and maintaining strict custody and accountability for arms and ammunition. He further advised on adhering to social media policies and professional codes of conduct, prioritizing general welfare, and deepening knowledge of the operational environment.

The visit underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to reinforce professionalism, improve operational standards, and strengthen the fight against crime in Sokoto State and the zone at large.
