Kebbi State University Begins Disbursement of N793 Million Education Loan Fund

Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, has commenced the disbursement of N793 million National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to its students, as received from the Federal Government. This development was announced by the acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Abubakar Maikasuwa, during a press briefing at the university on Tuesday.

According to Professor Maikasuwa, "The NELFUND provided by the Federal Government to the institution is intact, disbursement starts this Tuesday, the management of the University has approved the release of funds for the first batch of screened beneficiaries." He also revealed that the university generated N24 million from accommodation fees, in addition to the revenue from registration.

In a significant move to ease financial burden on parents, the university has extended the registration deadline, initially set for March 29, 2025, and waived the late registration charges. The affected students will receive a refund, and the new registration deadline will be communicated in due course.

Professor Maikasuwa expressed the university's gratitude to both the state and federal governments for their commitment to students' welfare, stating, "The University is grateful to the incumbent administrations at state and federal levels for their care to the welfare of students". This gesture is a testament to the university's efforts to provide quality education while alleviating financial burdens on students and their families.
