"Police Nab 165 Suspected Irregular Immigrants in Kebbi State, Hand Over to Immigration Authorities"

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested 165 suspected irregular immigrants from Francophone countries, who were residing in Nigeria without valid documents. According to CSP Nafiu Abubakar, Police Public Relations Officer, the suspects were arrested on January 31, 2025, at about 1700hrs, following intelligence reports.

Abubakar stated that the suspects were discovered in a three-bedroom flat at Kuwait area, Birnin Kebbi, and were subsequently raided by a team of detectives attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). "Consequently, the resident was raided... and successfully arrested 165 occupants," he said.
The investigation revealed that the suspects were from various Francophone countries, including Burkina Faso (35), Benin Republic (11), Niger Republic (5), Mali (4), and Ivory Coast (110). Abubakar noted that the suspects were allegedly involved in the Qnet Ponzi Scheme and were residing in Nigeria without valid documents.

The Police Command has transferred the suspects to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kebbi State Command, for further investigation and necessary action. Abubakar said, "On conclusion of the preliminary investigations by the Command, the arrested suspected irregular immigrants have been transferred... for the continuation of investigation and further necessary action."
