A daring attack by suspected Lakurawa bandits on a farm and Fulani settlements in Natsini village, Kebbi State, was foiled by the Police on January 3, 2025. The bandits, who invaded the area on motorcycles, made off with an unspecified number of cows.
However, a team of Police Safer Highway patrol quickly responded to the report, engaging the bandits in a gun duel and pursuing them into the forest. The bandits escaped with gunshot wounds, but the Police were able to recover some of the stolen cows.
Tragically, two Police Officers lost their lives during the encounter. The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, has condemned the attack and prayed for the souls of the deceased Officers to rest in peace. He also visited the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Dr. Sama'ila Muhammad Mera, CON, to condole with him and brief him on the efforts of combined security agencies to combat crime in the area.
The Emir of Argungu, a respected traditional leader, has been a strong advocate for peace and security in the region. He was instrumental in leading the polio sensitization campaign in Nigeria, which ultimately led to the country being declared polio-free in 2020.
