The North East Youth Ambassadors have expressed their pride in having Dr. Bala Wunti, a director with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), as an indigene of Bauchi in the Northeast geo-political zone of the country. This recognition comes after Bala Wunti was named one of the 100 Most Reputable Africans in the 2025 Edition by Reputation Poll International, in honor of his transformative leadership in the energy sector.
According to Comrade Haruna Usman Muhammad, the group's zonal chairman, Bala Wunti's contributions to national development are multifaceted. As a public servant and philanthropist, he has assisted communities not only in his home state of Bauchi or Nigeria but also across the African continent. "Bala Maijama'a Wunti is a globally recognized energy industry executive and transformational leader with extensive expertise in strategic leadership," Ambassadors' Chief Haruna said.
Bala Wunti's impact on the energy sector is notable, with his innovative solutions driving commercial competitiveness, energy security, and sustainable value creation. His expertise in strategic leadership has been recognized globally, and his contributions to the Nigerian oil and gas sector are unparalleled. As Haruna noted, "The number of students he provided scholarships to in areas of education, health, agriculture, empowerment is unprecedented in the history of the northeast subregion."
The North East Youth Ambassadors have urged well-to-do individuals in the country, particularly in the northeast, to emulate Bala Wunti's example. They also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to bring individuals like Bala Wunti closer to him to improve governance. As Haruna stated, "If we had about five people like Bala Wunti in the northeast, we would have excelled in various sectors of socio-economic and infrastructural transformation by now."
