The APC Youth Ambassadors have urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Dr. Bala Maijama'a Wunti as the substantive Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). This call is based on Wunti's impressive track record in the oil and gas industry, spanning over three decades.
According to the group, the appointment of the incumbent Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, Limited (NNPC-L), Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, is expected to end soon, based on the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). The Ambassadors' national coordinator, Haruna Mohammed, pleaded with President Tinubu to consider merit in the appointment, citing Wunti's ability to handle the demanding position.
The appointment of Wunti, according to Ambassador Mohammed, will open new frontiers in the industry, leading to increased revenue generation for the socioeconomic, infrastructural, and political transformation of the country. He expressed hope that President Tinubu will critically consider the group's demand.
Wunti's experience in the oil and gas industry is extensive, having worked in various roles, including Production Programming Officer, Assistant Chief Market Research Officer, and Head of Market Research . His impressive track record makes him an ideal candidate for the position, according to the group.
