The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully rescued 36 people who were kidnapped by gunmen in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of the state. According to a press release by the command, the gunmen had barricaded the Mairairai/Bena road and kidnapped the victims, who were returning from their farms, on December 8, 2024, at around 6:00 pm.
A combined team of police, army, and vigilante operatives quickly mobilized to the scene and engaged the bandits in a gun duel. The operatives overpowered the bandits, forcing them to flee into the forest with gunshot wounds. All 36 victims were rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their families.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the operatives for their bravery, resilience, and professionalism. He urged them to remain committed to ensuring that Kebbi State is not a safe haven for criminals. CP Sani also charged the police and other security agencies operating in the area to intensify their synergy and work together to decisively deal with bandits and other unscrupulous elements.
