The Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma has clarified reports surrounding a recent military airstrike in Sokoto State. According to Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, the military operation was conducted based on thorough intelligence and reconnaissance missions.
"All military operations are planned and executed with precision, taking into account the safety of civilians," Lt. Col. Abdullahi explained. "In this particular case, the targets struck in the vicinity of Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa have been positively identified as associated with the Lakurawa terrorist group."
The Joint Task Force North West urged the public to rely on confirmed information to prevent misinformation and unnecessary panic. "Terrorist groups often attempt to undermine military successes through media disinformation," Lt. Col. Abdullahi cautioned. "We must be vigilant and cautious when sharing unverified claims, especially in the ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry."
The military's clarification comes amid concerns raised by recent reports of a military fighter jet allegedly bombing civilian structures in the Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State. However, Lt. Col. Abdullahi's statement reassures that the military operation was justified and targeted at terrorist elements.
