In a bid to promote self-reliance and economic empowerment among Fulani women, the First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, has disbursed cash grants to 500 beneficiaries. The empowerment program, held at the Rugar Fulani Hotingo Centre, aimed to support the women in starting small businesses and improving their livelihoods.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Maikurata, the First Lady emphasized the importance of engaging in small businesses to achieve self-reliance. She advised the beneficiaries to make proper use of the grants to stand on their feet and improve their livelihoods. Additionally, she encouraged them to allow their children to acquire various skills.
The First Lady assured that the NASARA Foundation, which she founded, will continue to support and improve the wellbeing of the people in the state. The state Women Leader of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Hajiya Hauwa Muhammad, thanked the First Lady on behalf of the beneficiaries for her kind gesture. She assured that the Fulani women will make proper use of the cash grants.
Earlier, the Coordinator of NASARA Foundation, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Bala, highlighted some of the empowerment programs carried out in the state by the foundation. He disclosed that each beneficiary was selected from various Rugar Fulani and will receive N20,000. The event was part of the NASARA Foundation's efforts to improve the lives of women and girls in Kebbi State.
