Veteran Journalist Garba Muhammad Gains Momentum in NUJ Presidential Bid

With over 30 years of experience under his belt, Muhammad has earned a reputation as a paragon of integrity and professionalism, making him an attractive choice for the top spot.

The Kaduna State Council of the NUJ has endorsed Muhammad's candidacy, with Chairman Hajiya Asma'u Yawo Halilu expressing full support for his presidential bid. As the NUJ prepares for its national delegates' conference, Muhammad's message of "Peace and Unity" resonates with journalists seeking a capable and reliable leader. Garba Muhammad's presidency is expected to bring significant positive change to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). As a veteran journalist with over 30 years of experience, Muhammad has pledged to prioritize transparency and accountability within the organization . He plans to achieve this by promoting capacity building and professionalism among members, ensuring that the International Institute of Journalism has a center in all geo-political zones of the country .

Some of the key areas where Muhammad is likely to make an impact include: Capacity Building.  He has facilitated training and retraining programs for journalists through partnerships with NNPC and other agencies, spanning eight years. Support for Fallen Heroes' Families Muhammad provides ongoing support to widows and children of journalists who lost their lives on the job.

He sourced office space for correspondent chapels in Kaduna State and established Brinkle FM radio station in Zuru, Kebbi State.

 Muhammad facilitated ICT training for journalists through Dialogue Computers. He helped create employment opportunities for numerous union members across the country.
