Niger State Federal Roads Receive Boost as Minister of Works Takes Decisive Action

In a significant development, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, has commended the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator Engineer David Umahi, for his exemplary leadership in addressing the challenges facing federal road projects in Niger State.

Senator Musa praised Minister Umahi for convening a stakeholder meeting to discuss the issues hindering the timely completion of 10 ongoing federal road projects in Niger State. The meeting, attended by members of the National Assembly and the state's Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, led to decisive actions, including the revocation of non-performing contracts and reprimanding erring contractors and ministry staff.

Minister Umahi demonstrated his commitment to delivering on the National Road Master Plan of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. He directed the revocation, redesigning, and re-awarding of the Dualization of Suleja-Lambatta-Minna (Phase 1 & 2) and ordered the contractor handling the Reconstruction of Bida - Lapai - Lambatta road to return to site. Additionally, he assured that more funds would be sourced for the Rehabilitation of Mokwa - Makera - Tegina road project in the 2025 budget.

Senator Musa also commended Governor Bago for his proactive approach to ensuring federal road projects in Niger State are completed to the highest standards. He urged other governors to emulate Governor Bago's engagement with federal contractors to ensure value for money and support the Renewed Hope Agenda.

This development is consistent with the Federal Ministry of Works' efforts to enhance infrastructure and transportation, as highlighted in their recent meetings and project inspections .
