In a significant move to combat gender-based violence (GBV), the Kebbi State Government has unveiled a billboard as part of the 16 Days Activism Against GBV campaign. The event, which took place on November 23, 2024, was attended by Her Excellency, Alhaji Zainab (Nasare) Nasir Idris, the wife of the Executive Governor of Kebbi State and Chairperson of the Kebbi State GBV Technical Working Group.
The billboard, which was sponsored by six organizations, including the Kebbi State GBV TWG, WRAPA, Zaki's Gem Support Foundation, NACTAL, NAPTIP, and Women Rights Initiative (WORI), aims to create awareness and encourage behavioral change to combat GBV in the state.
In her remarks, Dr. Nafisa Abubakar Zaki, Co-founder/Executive Director of Zaki's Gem Support Foundation, expressed gratitude to Her Excellency for her unwavering dedication to supporting the vulnerable and less privileged across all genders. She also thanked the six organizations that collaborated to make the project a reality.
Comr. Nasir Idris, Secretary of the TWG on GBV, delivered a vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to Her Excellency, the six sponsoring organizations, and all those who contributed to the project's success. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to build a society free from violence and filled with equality, dignity, and hope for all.
