Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari, is struggling to attract students, a challenge that threatens its growth and development. Deputy Rector Sa'idu Aliyu Dankolo shared this concern during a visit to the Kebbi State House of Assembly, where he led the institution's Management Team and Government Council members.
The polytechnic boasts accredited courses in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Science Laboratory, Library and Information Science, and N.C.E. level programs in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and their combinations. Despite these accomplishments, student enrollment remains low. Dankolo emphasized that this trend poses a significant threat to the polytechnic's development. He urged House members to encourage people from their constituencies to enroll, promoting overall growth of the polytechnic and education sector.
Some State Assembly members offered recommendations and expressed willingness to provide support. Speaker Mohammed Usman Zuru, represented by Deputy Muhammad Sama'ila Bagudo, reaffirmed the House's commitment to resolving the matter. However, he also challenged the polytechnic to identify the root cause of low enrollment to effectively address the problem.
Established in 2014, Kebbi State Polytechnic aims to provide higher education opportunities to the state's indigent population . With well-structured programs and a conducive learning environment, the institution nurtures entrepreneurs and promotes technological development.
