Senator Shehu Sani has thrown his weight behind Garba Muhammad's bid to become the national president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). At the Kaduna GMP campaign flag-off at the NUJ Secretariat, Sani, represented by Mohammed Suleiman, urged delegates from the state to support Muhammad's candidacy, ensuring the state's leadership role in the union.

Comrade Sani praised Muhammad's leadership abilities, emphasizing Kaduna's significance in the journalism profession, particularly in northern Nigeria. He recalled his efforts in pushing for the Freedom of Information Bill after journalists were attacked at an NUJ conference.

Managing Director of KSMC, Ahmed Maiyaki, also endorsed Muhammad, citing his years of acquaintance with the aspirant. Maiyaki believes Muhammad will prioritize members' interests and welfare while promoting professionalism.

Maiyaki shared a personal experience, highlighting Muhammad's kindness towards the family of a deceased colleague, demonstrating his commitment to the well-being of NUJ members.

The National Delegates Conference/Congress of the NUJ is scheduled to take place later this month in Owerri, Imo State.
