Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has given the green light to the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage for Kwara state workers, effective from October 2024 . This development was confirmed by the state's Finance Commissioner, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, who attributed the decision to a successful tripartite meeting involving government, labour, and private sector representatives.
The new wage structure will benefit all public servants, including local government workers across the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state . Dr. Nuru praised Governor AbdulRasaq for his proactive approach and for granting autonomy to the minimum wage committee, allowing swift implementation of the new pay package.
This significant step is expected to enhance the welfare of civil servants in Kwara State, with the wage increment applying to all public servants . The collaboration between the government and labour unions was instrumental in facilitating the approval of the new minimum wage.
