The construction of the 258 km, three-lane single carriageway Kebbi sector of the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway is underway . This project is part of the 1068 km superhighway undertaken by the Tinubu administration. Governor Nasir Idris, representing President Tinubu, flagged off the project at Gulumbe town near Birnin Kebbi on Friday.

Governor Idris commended President Tinubu for improving the quality of life for Nigerian citizens. "President Tinubu has ensured the execution of this unprecedented project, the longest super highway in Nigeria. The people of this country are happy with the president; he has delivered on his promises." He also expressed appreciation for the National Assembly and Federal Executive Council's support.

The Minister for Works, Engr. David Umahi, presented the contractor to the President's representative. Umahi stated that the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway was conceived 48 years ago by late President Shehu Shagari's government but was abandoned until President Tinubu's administration.

"This project is an investment with high yields, featuring 68 dams for agricultural revolution and food security, wind energy benefits, agro-allied product processing, and a train track for goods and personnel transportation." The project is expected to be completed within 36 months, but efforts will be made to complete it within two years.

The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama'ila Muhammadu Mera, pledged traditional rulers' support for the project's success and loyalty to the administration. Other speakers, including the Minister for Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, and the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Works, Sen. Muhammadu Adamu Aliero, praised President Tinubu's infrastructural development initiatives.

This project aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, demonstrating the administration's commitment to enhancing Nigeria's infrastructure and promoting economic growth.
