Press Statement
The Kebbi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemns the recent destruction of property at the College of Health Sciences, Jega, and the discovery of fraudulent activities in the Orphans' Fund. We describe these incidents as unfortunate and detrimental to the state's image.
The PDP demands open investigations into these episodes and public disclosure of findings, including names of indicted officers, to serve as deterrents. It's unacceptable for international NGOs' funds meant for orphaned children to be diverted by unscrupulous officers. This is ungodly, wicked, and inhuman.
The investigation committees must make their findings and recommendations public to avoid past experiences, such as the land grabbing and NG Cares investigations, which were allegedly swept under the carpet. If the government fails to punish identified culprits, setting up investigation committees serves no purpose.
These incidents tarnish the state's image; therefore, no one involved should be spared.
Signed,
Hon. Abubakar Bawa Kalgo (Makaman Kalgo)
State Secretary.
