A devastating motor accident occurred on the Dogondaji-Malisa highway, near Gamu village, leaving numerous traders injured. The victims were traveling from Gambanda Magiru Gumi Local Government Area of Zamfara State to Dodoru market in Gwandu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to eyewitnesses, a Toyota wagon carrying 12 passengers experienced a tire burst, causing the vehicle to swerve and crash. This resulted in various degrees of injuries among the passengers, with some sustaining severe wounds.
"One of the survivors, who spoke to our correspondent, narrated: "Our tire burst, and the vehicle swerved, leaving all of us injured." The survivor added, "We are traders who travel to markets daily, but due to insecurity, we only visit nearby markets and return home."
The accident occurred at about 13:34 hrs approximately 4 kilometers from Malisa and 66 kilometers from Sokoto. Our correspondent, who witnessed the incident, reported that the driver of the vehicle was nowhere to be found.
Unfortunately, despite the severity of the injuries, no police officers or Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel from Shangari or Malisa arrived at the scene for over 40 minutes. The victims, many of whom were bleeding profusely, remained unattended to until our correspondent left the scene.
