The National Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has distributed 33 fibre glass boats to riverine communities across its member states, coinciding with World Maritime Day celebrations.
Managing Director Alh. Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa stated that the boats are part of the Commission's broader vision to revolutionize marine transportation, enhancing safety, durability, and performance.
The distribution aims to mitigate boat mishaps, reduce risks, and improve lives in riverine communities. Beneficiary states include Niger (8), Kebbi (6), Kwara (4), Kogi (4), Benue (2), Taraba (2), Nasarawa (2), Gombe (1), and Kaduna (1).
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, praised the initiative, emphasizing its potential to facilitate goods and services movement, strengthen trade networks, and enhance community connectivity.
This initiative demonstrates N-HYPPADEC's commitment to transforming maritime transportation and improving the lives of riverine communities.
