A 21-year-old scavenger, Dauda Saidu, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for alleged trespassing, vandalism, and theft. Saidu, a resident of Yelwa, unlawfully entered a Christian cemetery in Yelwan Kagadama, Bauchi, and damaged several graves to extract iron rods in broad daylight.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Ahmed Wakil, Saidu confessed to committing the offenses after interrogation. He admitted to stealing multiple iron rods and selling them to scrap metal buyers in separate transactions totaling N27,000 (approximately $55 USD). Saidu used the proceeds to purchase Indian hemp and food items for personal consumption.

Commissioner of Police CP Auwal Muhammad has ordered the police to prosecute Saidu following the conclusion of the investigation. Emphasizing the importance of parental supervision, CP Muhammad urged parents and guardians to vigilantly monitor their children and wards.
