Gov. Idris Administration Completes 25 Projects, 20 More Ongoing - Commissioner Information

Kebbi State Government has announced the completion of 25 major infrastructure projects, while 20 more are ongoing. The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, made the disclosure in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday while briefing journalists on the performance of the Governor Nasir Idris administration.

According to Ahmed-BK, the briefing was aimed at highlighting the infrastructure achievements recorded by the present administration as it approaches mid-term.
He explained that the projects span roads construction and rehabilitation, office accommodation, transport infrastructure, drainages, bridges and other public works.
He noted that the projects are in fulfilment of the campaign promises made by Governor Idris and a deliberate effort to tackle the infrastructure deficit inherited in the state.
He said: "Roads and other critical infrastructure are key to unlocking the economic potentials of the state, improving access to social services, facilitating evacuation of farm produce, attracting investors and enhancing security and emergency response."
The Commissioner lamented that the road network in the state had suffered long years of neglect, which resulted in poor connectivity and decayed facilities, adding that Governor Idris promised to change the narrative during electioneering.
He said the ongoing rehabilitation and construction have eased transportation challenges and opened up rural communities for economic activities.
Ahmed-BK mentioned the 32.7-kilometre Birnin Lafiya-Gulma-Natsini Road in Argungu Local Government Area and the construction of access roads and drainage behind Azbir Arena among the newly awarded projects.
The Commissioner described the new central motor park in Birnin Kebbi as a clear demonstration that infrastructure can generate revenue, stressing that the old park was an eyesore to both residents and visitors.
He said: "A modern motor park is more than a civic showpiece; it is a strategic gateway for internally generated revenue and commercial activities."
He further stated that the creation of the Kebbi State Transportation Company, purchase of buses and construction of the modern motor park have repositioned the transport sector, created employment and improved service delivery.
He emphasized that infrastructure development is critical for Kebbi, which is largely agrarian and now expanding into solid minerals exploration.
He said consistent investment in roads and drainages would ease movement of agricultural produce, promote trade and attract more investors into the state.
He urged the people of the state to sustain their support for the administration, noting that a second term for Governor Idris would enable the government to consolidate on its gains.
He said: "Governor Nasir Idris has demonstrated the capacity to lead, the commitment to address challenges and the courage to deliver results."
Ahmed-BK expressed optimism that sustained infrastructure development would fast-track economic growth, boost productivity and improve the standard of living of Kebbi people.
