Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria -June 21, 2026 (Series News Online) -The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Garba Aiki Rabi’u of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the Zuru State Constituency bye-election held on Saturday in Kebbi State.
The APC candidate polled 4,871 votes to defeat his closest rival, Aliyu Galadima Muhammad of the Labour Party, LP, who secured 168 votes, according to official results.
The Returning Officer and Collation Officer for the election, Professor Muhammad Bashar Danladi of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, announced the result in Zuru on Saturday night.
“Garba Aiki of the APC polled 4,871 votes to defeat his closest rival, Aliyu Galadima Muhammad of the Labour Party, LP, who secured 168 votes,” Professor Danladi said.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, for Kebbi State, Abubakar Sarkin Pawa Dambo, witnessed the declaration of the results in Zuru.
The Zuru Constituency seat became vacant following the death of the former Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, who represented the constituency until his demise.
The bye-election was conducted to fill the vacant seat in line with constitutional provisions.
