Borno Governor Commends Tinubu for Establishing New Agricultural University, Pledges State Support

Borno, Nigeria, May 7, 2026(Series News Online)-Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship in Bama, describing it as a major step toward broadening educational opportunities in the region.  

Governor Zulum gave the commendation on Thursday in Abuja during a meeting with the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, following the announcement of the institution’s principal officers.  

He noted that the prompt appointment of the university’s leadership reflects the President’s commitment to advancing education in Borno State and the wider north-east. “The swift action taken on the appointment of principal officers demonstrates President Tinubu’s resolve to strengthen educational infrastructure not only in Borno but across the north-east,” Zulum said.  

The governor also acknowledged the role of the Minister of Education in facilitating the process. “I commend Dr. Tunji Alausa for his support and collaboration in ensuring the timely appointment of key officials for the new Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, Bama,” he stated.  

Zulum assured the federal government of Borno’s readiness to collaborate for the smooth takeoff of the institution. “The Borno State Government will provide all necessary backing to ensure the university commences academic activities without hindrance,” he pledged.  

The appointed officers include Prof. Tijjani Kalli as Vice Chancellor, Abba Kaka as Registrar, Bashir Subaru as Bursar, and Aishatu Halilu as University Librarian.  

The governor emphasized that the establishment of the university and the constitution of its management team would accelerate educational growth in Borno and the north-east. “This institution will play a vital role in promoting economic development, entrepreneurship, agricultural innovation, and human capital advancement in our state,” he said.  

Governor Zulum was accompanied on the visit by a member of the House of Representatives, Engr. Bukar Talba; the Chairman of the Borno State Social Investment Programme, Hon. Yuguda Vungas Saleh; and elder statesman Alhaji Mamman Tubo.
